May19, A "marble" EDiM for Sydney Sketch Club

Friends, I post two imgaes : one is children playing marbles and another is my wash with a wrap technique. Rhonda, your guess is very close, but I wanted to make a girl a hero in the work! Have you ever played a marbles game? If not, you're young. Once, we were addicted to this game! Marbles are beautiful. I still love to look at them. Vintage games are vanishing from the earth in this digital era. I hope children will enjoy old fashioned games with friends in sunshine, not with computers in a dark room.
This wrap technique is interesting, but I've been searching for a suitable scene to use it in my own work. Have you ever used it in your art work? If any, I'd like to know it. A result always reminds me of marble. It was good to review the learned technique.

A tomorrow's theme is a "mattress."

Friends, Happy Painting!

  2. Sadami, the marble painting is lovely and I do like the young lady doing her thing. I bet the wrap technique would be good for making the look of marble stone in a landscape or kitchen countertop scene. I've never tried this myself. Yours is lovely.

    1. Dear Carol, SSC members love my illustrations, especially, children. I'm thinking of using a wrap tech for something moody in illustration or a still life. Kind regards, Sadami

  3. Love your marbles painting and the expressions on their faces - yes, I played marbles!... it got banned at our school though, not sure why. I think it got too competitive and children were fighting and stealing each others marbles - rough school! I have tried that technique, but not used it in a painting that I can remember.

    1. Thank u, Cathy for sharing your childhood story! In my childhood, mainly boys played it, not girls. So, I chose a girl for my image. These experiences are very precious information sources for illustration. Yes, I've been searching for any suitable illustraion etc for that tech. Kind regards, Sadami

    1. Oh, so sweet Meera, thank you so much! Originality and creativity should be the engine for our work. Otherwise it will not either shine or stand out. Also, yes, drawing gives me a great joy. I'm so happy to draw and paint anything. Best wishes, Sadami
