Quiet Time at Church

I sketched a big famous cathedral.
Based on the same black&white, I tried very different approaches to make values.
Actual light comes like the first one.
But the second approach is more punchy and dramatic. Very interesting and fun!

After sketching, I visited the church and had
a quiet time for thoughts and prayers.

These quick sketches
were made a few years ago, when a disability happened in a leg . I prayed for Lord to give me the answer if I would be an artist or not.

Today, I'm certain I was born to be an artist, my childhood dream came true.

A person's ability and the potential is unlimited.

I thank for the disability that has actually helped me discover my ability and talent...
...and given me compassion and empathy for anyone who needs help.

KuRingGai Annual Exhibition On. Let's Find a Little Happiness...

KuRingGai 45th Annual Exhibition is ON.
Venue : St Ives Shopping Centre Time : 19th Monday July to 25th Sunday
166 Mona Vale Rd St Ives
NSW 2075 Australia
(02) 9488 7077

My submitted work is, "Young Artist."
Portrait is hard to sell, others said. To their exhibitions, I never submitted any portrait, my most favorite area. But it was not my style at all. An exhibition is a good place for an artist to advertise who she is and what works look like. I want to demonstrate myself as a portraitist. Whatever others say, the point is to be what I am. Selling art work is a second issue.

So, from now on, I will submit figurative works to exhibitions. Anyway, wish me good luck.

Now, I go back to my topic.

"Let's Find a Little Happiness..."

Even though small spending,
my secret stress management strategy is... having an ice cream! Yeah!!Looking at happy children is so lovely. (*Indeed, this very cute little girl is printed on my business cards!)

My another stress management strategy is...
shopping around markets for secondhand goods. This lady, as if she were coming out from a children picture book's fairy tale.

After shopping or enjoying events, I sometimes go to a beach to listen to waves and look at their colors.
I assume a sky and a sea fell in love. Alas, they could not get together. So, an ocean turned to be very deep blue- green, reflecting a sky's blue...
Deep green, the color of life, calms me down... and gives me energy for tomorrow.

Probably, we do not need too many or too much things on the earth. Small things make me happy and of course, painting and drawing, too!

I live in a very simple way.

Ships, Sail Away into Dream

I love hanging around harbours, looking at ships and people. Especially, tall ships are so attractive. I was used to making tiny windjammers for my friends' birthday presents.
"Soft breeze in Drummoyne" A4.

Some ships and boats are left at harbours. It makes me a bit melancholic.

"John Oxley" (A4)

Little Sadami got in ships and sailed away into an
imagination world. There, kids enjoy exciting adventures and have a secret fun in fairy tales. Probably, that habit still motivates me to illustrate children picture books.

"John Oxley" (A2)

Let's go for sketching!!

Sail away, sail away...!

Sketches "Of, In, From"...and "For" Pub

One-night dream or amusement or a rest, people come to a pub to find something they seek for.
When a night softly falls on Town, pubs shine and swallow people more and more in a dusk.
Time for adults begins.

Technically, not an ideal spot for sketching, because of poor light, especially, in the evening.

The tips to sketch people in a pub is "Be quick" and "Before a model gets stiff," or *I always ask a model to be natural and keep on their business such as chatting or games etc.
Kind people pretend not knowing my sketching and let me work on. (Thanks millions!) Later, we have a fun time to look at a result or my sketches.

...and, well, "not to have too much wine or beer with a model"??!

When I look at
a street from a windowsill, light is very fascinating. Colours diminish in darkness.

A gig is another fun as well as
alcohol and chats with friends.
Once, I did play an acoustic guitar and sang at a folk song cafe, but NO PAY. So, I'm totally empathic to gig performers. Hang in there, guys!! Survive and strive for a dream!

In the middle of night, a fiasco is over and people begin to go home. I think of
Toulouse-Lautrec.

For the "honor" of pubs, I'd also demonstrate the "noble" view of a pub ...in a daytime.

Anyway, Friends, have a good fun at a pub!
...but be careful, it is said..."Bacchus(=Dionysus) has drowned more people than Neptune(=Posaidon)."
