#monotone painting. Our task try in Yuko Nagayama #online #workshop . Very sophisticated and classical technique. An #opaque #white was the first experience in my life! So interesting. It can be erased on a pastel paper. I’ll use it in my picture book illustration. Whoohoo!! The great course has enriched my skills. Thank you, Yuko! Our assignment is no restriction in subjects. Let’s have fun!

ほとんどは 同時にクラスの中で描きました. とても楽しかったです. でも 注意深くバリュー,を 点検し始めます #value study すると 先生からの Notice が. ああ, なるほどと思いもっと #白 を描き込もうと とりわけバラとジャーをよく描き込みました. #花びら と #水差し の 照りと照り返しを頑張りました. とてもエキサイティングだったのは 生まれて初めて #不透明の白 を使ってこんなに描いたので消せることを知りませんでした. 何て面白いの!! そうか, Michelangeloと同じやり方なんて,急にやんごとない 気分になりました. 主題そのものは私は 大きく描きました. A3 42x 29.7 cm 紙でたくさん勉強しようと思ったからです (*セコくて すいません. 紙, 高かったから) 実際の作品はもう少しスペース開けます. 沢山学べて嬉しいです. アーティストとして成長したいです!! 本当にありがとうございます.

Illustrators Showcase at SCBWI conference 2019

In the submitted folio, I demonstrated

• Some black and white,
• Character design, movement,
• Variety of subjects,  
• Colour, front cover, single/double spreads,
• Mock book, 
• Postcards designed for promotion.  

The above has responded to publishers' seeking.

Are You Ready for the Illustrator Showcase at the 2019 Sydney International Conference?
An illustrator may submit 10 images, in all. I included landscapes, figures and other subjects.

Many of my "postcards" were picked up. Hopefully, publishers, authors, illustrators, teacher librarians and anyone in a publishing industry liked them. 

A local printshop printed them all and encouraged me. Thank you!

Illustrators Showcase at SCBWI conference 2019

Centenary of Armistice, The Australian War Memorial

Armistice Day. I sketched "Fallen Soldier," a statue in St Mary Cathedral with a sketch group, "Drawing Sydney." A lady left a poppy on the soldier's chest. I prayed for soldiers, families and all involved people. Above all, for peace like my previous post on "ANZAC Centenary, Peace Forever." Tears were up in my eyes. A great bonus. A shop's lady gave me the beautiful sketches of the Cathedral and encouraged me (a second photo). Oh, thank you!! I'll keep up!

I imagined a lot, put myself into this young soldier and worked on this drawing, whilst praying. Although the bone structure of young soldier looked masculine (such as a face), his face expression was full of pain, especially, around the eyebrows on the forehead. How much he suffered on the battle field and died…. So, I focused on his face that would convey the message, “Peace.”     

The dedication for the young soldier is, “To all Australians who died on war,” and the quote, “Their name lives on for all generations. Ecclesiastics, 44 : 14.”
