1)AAA uses "Melancholic Beer" 2)Self Acceptance & "This" ability

Special thanks for many people's warm cheers for me.
So far, my work, "Melancholic Beer" has 60 votes in people's choice for Arts Access Australia prize. A big number. Goodwilll is wonderful. I'd pay back my special thanks to others by art work!

Yey!! Indeed! I've got a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Arts Access Australia.  Friends!! Accessible Arts NSW will use my work "Melancholic Beer" to promote the Arts Activated Conference on 30, 31st, October, Chatswood in Sydney. I'm so happy~~!! Great honour!! Friends, pinch me! Am I still smiling? "Cheers, Friends," I want to share this joy with all the supporters. Not melancholic at all. What a positive outcome! (*Wow, my head's in a cloud?!)

People say with a big smile, "Sadami, you're so positive!" Yes, I am! I've learned "Be what I am fully" from this disability and psychology at uni. The most beauty of what I've learned in psychology is "proper self-understanding." It builds up self-esteem and genuine confidence. Also, "love yourself properly" gives a person the ability to accept/love others properly, too.

It's not easy to look at oneself objectively. Set back and find what I did. Of course, I found disappointed things, nice things etc. Then, I begin to dig deep why I felt so? Of course, it could be painful to face  real what I am = what disappoints me? Although it took time to do it, it was worth spending time. If so, I dig deep more.  I began to understand why I felt/behaved so. Deep self-understanding enables me to perceive my value system.

Furthermore, I found my value system was quite tough and narrow. I've realized the strengths and the weaknesses are the coin's head and tail (*think of this; Sadami is Sadami. You're looking at the same person from different angles). A judgemental view is subjective and up to an individual value system.

Now, I've begun to love what I am in a realistic way. I did not turn away from "what I am" at all. "Despite the facts, I still love myself," could be a more appropriate statement, at last. The key is how we look at ourselves.

The precious paradox is, once a person accepts who she is, she begins to change in a positive way. Liberation begins.
I've learned that "pushing oneself too much," and "demanding oneself" changes nothing. Or it may damage a person's self-esteem and destroy her confidence completely.
Today, I love this disabled leg so much. Thus, this is not a disablity any more. It's part of me! This ability has actually matured me as a person and an artist. I've met  many people with leukemia, cancer and other chronic conditions at hospital. I met paralympians in a stadium. As far as I know all of them embracing their lives instead of complaining about unchangeable conditions. Awesome. They became my wonderful role models. Friends, that's the way! Embrace yourself properly and kindly.

So, with all my heart, I'd say, "Please love yourself properly. You're special and precious on the earth!"
In my eyes, anyone is shining. Everyone has unique beauty.
Find it, let it shine. In drawings, I want to depict my findings or your beauties on papers.

Friends, Happy Painting!! Have a nice week!

This invitation is a great thing after so many centuries, and in the words that I read
in your post today, there is all the wisdom you find in this great undertaking.
With your strength you take me by the hand, inviting me to do the same to get a better life.... Your words have today the power of real experience, not only carved on a stone or written on the computer. Thanks Sadami!

Me gustan mucho.

  9. How often I have felt a little down .....but then I visit here and you are writing something like...."Today, I love this disabled leg so much". So instructive and heartening! I am reminded to accept myself as I am (a challenge, to be sure!)
You were meant to be exactly as you are, and I am grateful and appreciative of knowing you.
Congratulations on your success...and I love the paintings in this post.

    1. Hi, Celeste,
Thank you so much! How often your comments have encouraged me!
Yes, please love what you are. If we can be "what I am" fully, the beauty of an individuality such as being autonomous, uniquess will bloom out.
The same is true in art. I always remember the say, "Have your own colour(=style) as an artist." If I try to be someone else, no, I will never have Sadami's style. Copying is good. All we start from copying and learn lots, but from some stage, we pursue what/who we are. I'm sure you and me are making a journey to establish "who I am" in art.
Me, too, thank for having met you on net and in this journey. Celeste, you're so lovely.

    1. Dear Hilda,
Thank you very much. Oh, you woke up with the terrible pain!! Too painful, isn't it? But you're brave to move on. I admire you. Pain is terrible. I've experienced it much. But also I know feeling pain means I'm still living and sensory works ok. (At the onset, some sensation was gone in the leg. I was very sad. Today, it seems to have come back to me. So, ever since, when I feel pain, I feel, of course, uncomfy, but happy with it.) Let's enjoy life fully and let us share joy!
      Best wishes, Sadami

  14. Dear sadami:) At the moment I read your post all kinds of thoughts go by my head. Of course I want to be positiv. See myself as I think I am. I find myself a good person for both man and animal. But I've also unfortunately experienced things which I am lost confidence in many people. So I've become very sad. And only because I wanted to be honest. In this world it is sometimes difficult to always be happy and grateful.
That is why I read yours posts always. The positivity varicose there from and they make me always laugh. That already starts with the first sentence: "Hi, Friends, did you have a nice weekend?"
You're a sweetie! Thank You Very Much.

    1. Hi, Renate,
Thank you for warm cheers, honest thoughts and candid feelings. I very much understand what you talked above. In my understanding, you mentioned about the interest conflicts between your being honest and others' responses to you in social contexts.

In my experience, being honest has required me to balance a third party's interest and my interest. As a matured adult and a society's member, I'd respect others. Take an example, a "white lie." Often it is said, "Don't tell a lie." But white lies are used to respect others and keep social manners. It is not necessary to be dead honest that might hurt others or me. We know children's dead honesty often hurt others.

Being honest with yourself and keep yourself dead honest in society is a different agenda. My topic is being honest with yourself. I hope my writing will make sense for you. I'm certain you're lovely lady. Your art work definately shows your personality, doesn't it?

Very happy to know you like this weekly blog posts.
Please take care and enjoy drawing and painting fully!!

    1. Dear Katherine,
Thank you for a chesting off comment that needs to be brave. I wish I could spend hours with you or as much as you like. Regarding self discovery, if you really want to do it, you can do it! although it takes years (*ongoing process for me, very happy and quite fun!)You and I have a similar background. Education and social work has the similar curriculum at uni (I spent time in social work). Psychology, particularly, counseling psychology has enlighted me. I've learned lots. Kath, if you still keep in touch with uni lecturers, have a chat with them, is not a bad idea. Or attend/sneak into uni psychology lecturers or have a look of the stuff online.
But the best thing is "have a nice friend around/close to you" and chest off. Kath, do you know, everyone has an answer in her/him. (*Check "Carl Rogers" at uni psychology course website). You can be a fully activated person!

Very happy to know you enjoyed the tree. A tree is often a symbol of life. I've loved the story, "Speaking Oak (=Le Chêne parlant)"(by George Sand) since childhood. One day, I'd make a picture book on a tree.
Take care and take it easy, Kath. I'm here standing just beside you hand in hand.
      Best wishes, Sadami
