Hidden Talent

Friends, thank you for awaiting a new post. I've finished up the project to advocate the immigrant women in Australia. Very happy! Then, I've got on other publishing projects.
Now, back to the topic, "Hidden Talent."
I'd dedicate this say to you, "Perseverance is a talent."

Ages ago, a dear friend looking at my piled drawings said, "Sadami, you're a hardwroker. That's a talent." I could not believe her say, as I thought I was a one trick poney or a donkey.
"Sadami, listen. Many people will soon stop drawing and give it up. How many people keep drawing?" ...oh, I see...
""Stick-to-it" is a talent." Her say encouraged me so much. I nearly overlooked my talent!  I determined to challenge pencil sketching people daily after that friend's say.

Continity is power, even though a few minutes sketch was hard. It often dissaponted me. I wanted to give up, but soon I realized I expected too much too soon. So, --- probably this is my another talent -- I just enjoyed my work results and kept on. I always shared joy with people around watching my drawings. Great fun and joy. Then, I moved onto colour pencils from black and white.
Furthermore, the playing with colours has opened a door to watercolour. Today, I enjoy watercolour sketching of a live model.

Learned skills take me to a higher road. I'm playing with washes for the ongoing illustrations. Already uploaded washes are here.
As a picture book illustrator, I explore watercolour and use it to unify a text and pictures in book making. The potential is limitless. It has simply come from hard work.

Friends, anyone can have diligence and hard work. They are so precious talents. "Experience is the best teacher," is simple, yet true. So, I draw something first. Theory follows Experience. "Seek and you'll find it," is also true. My "hands" will find answers, not my brain! Let us enjoy drawing and just keep up.
Friends,  you have a wonderful talent, called hard work!!
Happy Painting!!

NOTE: Pardone me, if I do not regularly post every Monday. The ongoing projects occupy me much. The hand seems to be ok, even though it needs to put on a plaster at night. Cheers!

  1. Thank you so much for the inspiring post Sadami. I think we all have times when we question why we do this art thing, and if we should continue to spend so much time and money on it, with rewards so few and far between... But the people who give up and walk away from their true passion are the most unhappy people you've ever seen. It's the intrinsic rewards that we are fulfilling a need deep down inside of us, and we are expressing things that can only be expressed through our art, that keeps us going. Your paintings are beautiful! So soulful and with such rich stories to tell.

    1. Hi, Katherine,
Thank you for the thoughtful and honest comment. Yes, practically, for any of us, it's not easy to choose art as a profession. Not only mentally, but also commercially, to go on as an artist is quite hard. Kathy, but I'm so happy to do this job. Reward is tremendous. As you know artists are a good example for "Maslow's hierarchy of needs" does not work.
Very happy to know you love my paintings. I love people. "Life is beautiful and people are lovely," -- is my mantra for painting!
      Kind regards, Sadami

  3. Hola Sadami!

      xx Sadami

      Oh, Joshemari,
Thank you very much! This girl is absolutely right that YOU have a wonderful talent, too, and your work gets sophisticated and skillful more and more. I'm sure one day a local concil asks you to have an exhibition at Town Hall.
I love sketching music players, particularly, string instruments players. You can try sketching them. Could be fun and very nice to enjoy sweet music.
      xx Sadami

      Hello Sadami! How are you?
This gentleman was absolutely right. You are and have an amazing talent! You draw like Angels!
That first girl with the cello, is a great delicacy. You don't know how much that I like. Others also, but this time I especially appreciate this first.
      Until the next. xxx

      Hi, Tina,
Thank you very much! I do not deny some people learn techniques well or quickly. But it's not a talent, I think. None of us can compose 9 symphonies from the beginning. Hard work and practice gives us wings to fly across the sky. Also, in my eyes, technically super sophisticated, yet not touchy work exists. The opposite, technically, not skilled, but so touchy work exists such as people with intellectual disabilities creat it. Tina, I'm certain, techniques follows heart, if an artist works hard.
I'll look after my hand. Thank you for the kind concern.
      Best wishes, Sadami

Your notes are delicious and I must give the reason in regards him persevere, but... is also important the talents of each person, know what you mean, then is when you enter the value of the technique. I'm glad that your hand is well and feel excited about your work. A hug.

  8. I never thought that perserverance is a talent! Now I do - and perhaps I am a bit lacking in that area, but will try harder. It is very good of you to share your struggles and fears when you were beginning to draw. I think we all "want it now!" and don't really believe that we can do anything, with enough practice and education. You have shown that you certainly can!

    1. Oh, Rhonda,
Perserverance is a talent. But also, we need to be wise enough to try different methods / ways to achieve the goal. Otherwise, we hit our heads against a wall on and on -- that's I've learned from my life experiences.
Take care and take it esay!!
      Cheers, wink, wink, Sadami

  16. Dear Sadami, words full of wisdom!
No talent, no aptitude can bear fruit without action!
The good will of a person less gifted can get more of the laziness of a very gifted person. Even at school brilliant elements but not constant in the study, they got less than people who developed talents and abilities with the work perseverance and tenacity!
I admire your work of art and I admire your personality so authentic and deep in expression of thoughts.
I have a friend,as YOU, on the other side of the world whose words always give me a good time and whose art works bring joy to my eyes! An affectionate greeting, Rita.

Thank you!! I have a wonderful friend in YOU, although your nice comment blushes me up. "Genius is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration," said Thomas Edison. So true. I prefer to an action rather than empty words in order to find answers in life and art. Let us keep up and enjoy drawing!
