ANZAC Day

I sketched a piper, an unknown soldier, a police, the three sculptures at the cenotaph and in St Mary cathedral. The #band members and people enjoyed my #sketch. Thank you, Sydney sketch club members, for a lovely #friendship! Many people talked to me. Communication is the beauty of universal language, drawing and painting. The #Sydney #Cenotaph is a #heritage-listed #monument located in #MartinPlace. #BertramMackennal’s #sculptures : a #soldier and a #sailor.

I always think of a #livemodel . I did research on the uniform last night and got on the sketch. Colour use always fascinates me.

The #police #officer and his #colleagues took photos of my #work. Lovely to see people smiling. I thanked for every #veteran #soldier #police etc's hard work whom I had met.

Lest we forget. I coloured my black & white sketch in St Mary cathedral. George Lambert's sculpture, “Fallen Soldier.” Very moving. Painting = Looking at Subject

This boy stole my dear friend's heart and mine, too. Have you ever observed a cat's movement, colours and texture? It's a great fun. So fascinating. A first step of drawing / painting is "Looking." Looking at a subject carefully with a great interest is, in my view, a half way through in the painting process. Watching gives me the solutions and challenges in drawing. Friends, enjoy looking and painting together!

Colourful White Lilies, Yuko Nagayama Online Course

I enjoyed Yuko Nagayama workshop on lilies! She always taught us how to draw a lily meticulously and even biologically! But this time, I played with colours and chose not to draw exactly accurate. She gave me feedback that my colourful "white" lilies looked like fire works. Yes, that was my image. Lovely to enjoy still life for the first time in my life. The pandemic is a great opportunity to study my unfamiliar areas such as still life. I want to grow as an artist. Also, Yuko had passionately talked about the importance of drawing skills. Drawing skills are equivalent to a person's car driving skills which allows a person to go anywhere she wants to go in work. Yes, I want to improve my drawing skills more than ever.
